Juan Velarde, lover of the skies

As a professional Airbus and competition pilot in the Red Bull Air Race, there is no doubt that Juan loves flying more than anything else in the world. Although he is one of just a few commercial pilots in sports aviation — which is dominated by former military pilots — Juan is a true fighter: a quality that he always shows in competitions.

He began acrobatic flight in 1999, and took the leap to the Red Bull Air Race Challenger Class after several victories; switching pirouettes for top speeds. Juan is currently the only Spanish pilot in the competition.
